CarryForward Terms of Use
Terms for private legacy spaces.
These terms explain the expectations for creating, managing, contributing to, and preserving Life Legacy and Memorial spaces in CarryForward.
Last updated: July 24, 2026
1. Acceptance of these terms
By accessing or using CarryForward, you agree to these Terms of Use and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use CarryForward.
2. What CarryForward provides
CarryForward provides private, invite-only spaces for preserving stories, memories, photos, videos, voice recordings, values, wishes, milestones, journal entries, questions, comments, reactions, exports, and related legacy information.
CarryForward supports Memorial spaces for someone who has passed and Life Legacy spaces for someone who is living. A Life Legacy may later be reviewed and converted into a Memorial space.
3. Accounts and access
You are responsible for keeping your account credentials secure and for activity under your account. You should provide accurate account information and keep your email address current so you can receive important notices.
Space access is controlled by invite links, roles, and permissions. You should not share invite links with people who should not have access to a private space.
4. Roles and responsibilities
Owners, Legacy Persons, Legacy Stewards, family members, guests, and administrators may have different permissions. Some users may be able to invite others, edit settings, post content, answer questions, export content, request conversion, or delete content. You agree to use only the access and permissions given to you.
5. Your content
You keep ownership of the content you submit to CarryForward. By submitting content, you give CarryForward permission to host, store, display, process, organize, copy, back up, restore, export, and otherwise use that content as needed to provide the service and follow your settings.
You are responsible for making sure you have the rights and permissions needed to upload or share content, including photos, videos, recordings, written stories, and information about other people.
6. Private, scheduled, and after-passing content
Life Legacy spaces may allow stories to be saved now, scheduled for a future date, or marked as available after passing. CarryForward will use reasonable efforts to follow those settings, but you should not use CarryForward as the only place where legally binding instructions, emergency information, estate documents, medical directives, or time-sensitive obligations are stored.
7. Memorial conversion
A Life Legacy may be converted to a Memorial space only through the process provided by CarryForward. A Legacy Steward or other authorized person may request conversion. CarryForward may request light verification and may approve, deny, or ask for more information before conversion.
CarryForward is not responsible for resolving family disputes, inheritance disputes, estate disputes, or disagreements about who should control a space. We may pause, limit, or decline changes when there is a dispute or risk of harm.
8. Google Drive and third-party services
If you connect Google Drive, you authorize CarryForward to use Google Drive for the storage features you select. Your use of Google Drive, Supabase, email providers, payment providers, and other third-party services may also be governed by those providers' terms and policies.
9. Payments, subscriptions, and bundles
CarryForward may offer paid Life Legacy features, subscriptions, partner offerings, prompt bundles, exports, printed books, or other paid services. Pricing, renewal, cancellation, refund, and access terms will be shown at purchase or in the applicable plan details. Memorial spaces may be offered free according to CarryForward's then-current rules.
10. Acceptable use
You agree not to use CarryForward to:
- Upload or share content you do not have the right to use.
- Harass, threaten, impersonate, exploit, or harm another person.
- Post unlawful, abusive, hateful, sexually exploitative, invasive, or intentionally misleading content.
- Attempt to access spaces, accounts, files, or systems without permission.
- Interfere with security, reliability, storage, exports, or other CarryForward operations.
- Use CarryForward for surveillance, advertising resale, data brokerage, or other unauthorized commercial use.
11. Content review and removal
CarryForward may remove content, restrict access, suspend accounts, disable invite links, or take other action when we believe it is necessary to protect users, comply with law, respond to abuse, enforce these terms, or protect the service.
12. No legal, medical, financial, or estate advice
CarryForward helps preserve stories and legacy information. It is not a substitute for legal, medical, financial, tax, funeral, estate planning, or professional advice. Do not rely on CarryForward as the official location for wills, trusts, powers of attorney, advance directives, insurance instructions, or other legally required documents.
13. Service availability and backups
We work to keep CarryForward available and reliable, but online services can experience downtime, data loss, interruptions, software issues, third-party outages, or security incidents. You are encouraged to use exports and backups for important content.
14. Disclaimers and limitation of liability
CarryForward is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis to the fullest extent allowed by law. We do not promise that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or meet every need. To the fullest extent allowed by law, CarryForward will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages.
15. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as CarryForward grows. If we make material changes, we will update the date above and, when appropriate, provide notice in the app or by email. Continued use of CarryForward after changes means you accept the updated terms.
